Course Descriptions
               Creating & Using ACL Dialogs

Course Level:  Intermediate

CPE Credits:  8

Course Description:

This is the class for you if you want to learn all you can about using the ACL
Dialog command!  This often-overlooked command is poorly documented
in the ACL literature and therefore seldom used.  However, the Dialog
command is extremely powerful and is key to creating customized
interactive scripts in ACL.  Mastery of the Dialog command will open
endless possibilities for scripting, including those used in continuous
monitoring applications.

ACL scripts allow the user to automate virtually any ACL task.  ACL scripts
are critical to the development and operation of any ACL-based continuous
monitoring / audit systems.  ACL scripts can also be used to setup and
preserve best practices.

As a case study exercise, this class will take the participant through the core
steps of creating a continuous monitoring system.

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, each participant will be able to:
  • Design, develop, and utilize interactive ACL scripts using the ACL
    Dialog command.
  • Design, develop, and utilize complex, multi-step ACL scripts.
  • Create the necessary scheduler code in order to auto-launch ACL, ACL
projects, and specific ACL scripts within a project.
  • Identify and follow the core steps required in ACL in order to develop a
    continuous monitoring system (CMS).

Course Balance:

  • Lecture / discussion:     50%
  • In-class applications:    20%
  • Section exercises:          30%

Course Prerequisites:

Participants should have previously completed the "Introduction to ACL"
training course.

Who Should Attend:

Internal and external auditors, financial managers, chief accountants, fraud
investigators, IS/IT auditors, or anyone interested in learning how to fully
leverage interactive ACL scripts to automate their data analysis and
continuous monitoring routines.
